From the South – December 2010

Brethren,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my Brothers for their confidence and support by electing me to serve as Senior Warden for the ensuing Masonic year.

I take this responsibility very seriously and will endeavor to serve with the dignity and honor that this high office demands.

One of my duties as Senior Warden is verifying the proficiency of all Candidates prior to giving their proficiency in Lodge. As such I will be asking those Brothers who have given their proficiency in the Third Degree to assist me in coaching our candidates. It is a very rewarding experience.

The Installation of Master-Elect Drew Middleton and the Officers for the ensuing Masonic year will take place on Saturday, December 11th at 7 p.m. You and your families are cordially invited to attend this annual Masonic event. Refreshments will be served immediately following the ceremony in the dining room.

Again thank you to the Brethren for electing me to serve as your Senior Warden.

Fraternally,
John Brooks, PM
Junior Warden

From the Secretary’s Table – December 2010

Brethren,

I will be spending the time this month when the Lodge is dark to work on the 2011 LODGE ROSTER. To accomplish this task, I will need your assistance. On December 1st, I will mail to your address, which I have on file, a post card. If you have not received it by December 6th, let me know–as that will be a clue that the address I have is not accurate.

When you receive the post card, please check the information on it and let me know if any thing is not current. You may send the correct information via e-mail or leave a message on the answering machine in the Lodge Office. What ever information that I have on January 1st is what I will publish in the Roster.

I am again going to try to get a brother to help in the lodge office as the Assistant Secretary. The brother needs to be available to help do work in the Lodge Office for 2-3 hours at a time, 2-3 days a week, and attend all meetings of the Lodge. If you are interested, contact me so that we can discuss your duties.

Fraternally,
Roy Youngblood, PM
Lodge Secretary

Master’s Message – November 2010

Brethren,

The Lodge’s annual Election of Officers will be on November 1st. Please make every effort to attend this important event to support the Lodge and next year’s Officers.

October was an active month for the Lodge with the Masonic Information and Child ID Booth at the Oceanside Harbor. My “Thanks” to Don Jones for chairing the project, and Brothers John Brooks, Bill Hurd, John Chapman, William Jemison, Ron Simonton, Joseph Manimat, Iggy Santiago Oscar Rauda, Adam Hansley, Alan Tirol, Todd Hunter and Drew Middleton for volunteering to work the two days.

We Initiated Charles Ihrig an Entered Apprentice on October 18th, and on the 11th Brothers Eric Gual and Joshua Blackburn were passed to Fellowcraft.

November will also be another busy month in the Lodge with a Third Degree for Joshua Blackburn on the 8th, Second Degree for Derrick Dennis on the 22nd, and a First Degree on the 29th for Mr. Field (if he is elected). We also will host the Officers’ School of Instruction on the 15th; the Officer’s and Candidate’s appreciate your support.

I would also like to recognize Brother Gregg Gunther who very admirably filled the shoes of the Secretary, while Bro Roy and Beverly were cruising to Baltimore via the Panama Canal.

As a last minute addition to the October calendar, I have scheduled Brother Eric Gual to receive his Master Mason Degree. He is desirous to become an active member of our Lodge.

Fraternally,
Dave Lonergan
Worshipful Master

From the West – November 2010

Brethren,

In anticipation of you placing your confidence in me, I have been working to create a budget and calendar for next year. Worshipful Brothers David Lonergan, John Brooks and Roy Youngblood have been providing me with guidance and support in these tasks.

With the assistance of our Officers’ Coach WorBro Tom Traver, those I hope to appoint as your Lodge’s Officers are in the process of qualifying to serve you and our Lodge in 2011.

There is one more duty I need to complete, that of getting you, the members of our lodge, to serve our lodge with me. There are several committees that are needed for our Lodge to be successful. Committees are listed in the back of the Lodge Membership Roster. If there is a particular task you would like to perform to help accomplish this please contact me and let me know what you would like to do.

As a member of our Lodge there is one job that you can do to make our Lodge the best it can be, that is to attend our lodge meetings, be supportive of the Officer, welcome our new members, and to thank those who have accepted the task of serving on one of the committees. We need you as a sideliner, and there is no ritual work for you to memorize.

Fraternally,
Drew Middleton
Senior Warden

Brethren,

Section 805.410 CMC Elected Officers.

The Master, Wardens, Treasurer and Secretary of each Lodge shall be elected annually at the Stated Meeting in November each year.
The election shall be by ballot. A majority of all votes cast shall be necessary for an election. A blank ballot shall not constitute a vote cast. The Lodge, by unanimous consent, may permit any designated officer to cast the ballot for the Lodge.

If an eligible candidate fails to receive a majority of the votes cast, and the candidate receiving a majority is ineligible, there is no election. When a candidate for office is ineligible because he is delinquent in his dues, but his dues are paid before a second ballot, and he receives a majority of the votes cast a second time, he is properly elected.

All members of the Lodge in good standing (current year dues paid) shall be entitled to vote at an election of Lodge officers.
An annual election held contrary to the provision of this section shall be void.

805.430. Appointed Officers.

All appointive Lodge officers shall be appointed by the Master-elect before the Lodge’s installation.

The November Stated Meeting will be held on November 1st. Please attend.

Fraternally,
John Brooks, PM

From the Secretary’s Table – November 2010

Brethren,

The dues notices for 2011 were put in the mail on October 1st, and many of you received it the next day. I have received 56 payments as of 23 days later.

Nine notices have been returned, three with out a new address. This is the reason that for many years I have been reluctant to deliver the trestleboard by e-mail. Over the years I have learned that by having trestleboards sent by the US Mail and when the recipient moved, the trestleboard is returned was the best way to get address up dates on our members. I plead to everyone who reads this message to keep me informed of your current address.

Shortly after the first of January, I will be working to publish the 2011 lodge membership roster. Please keep me updated, to make that a worthwhile endeavor.

I have also been informed that a few members have stated that they were offended by my saying that I hoped that when they received the Grand Lodge philanthropic mailing that they would make a donation of $161.00. To anyone who feels injured by the hope that I stated, please accept my sincere apology.

Fraternally,
Roy Youngblood, PM
Lodge Secretary

Master’s Message – October 2010

Brethren,

In September the lodge honored Worshipful John Brooks with this year’s Hiram Award. The event was spectacular. We also initiated one new member, Brother Frank Pecoraro.

For those brothers in attendance at out last Stated Meeting, you will recall the point brought up by several members regarding our Lodge’s support for the Youth Groups—they are a very important part of our Masonic Family and need you to attend their meetings support the fund raising activities that they have.
PLEASE attend our Stated Meetings and, as always, the lodge officers and our candidates appreciate your support at our Degrees.

Our lodge was one of 13 in California to be recognized by 2010 Grand Master Ken Nagel for having 100% of its officers donating to the Masonic Homes this last year.

Congratulations to WorBro Roy Youngblood, who has been appointed a member of the Grand Lodge Youth Orders Committee by 2011 Grand Master Bill Bray.

Fraternally,
Dave Lonergan
Worshipful Master

From the West – October 2010

Brethren,

I have written about attending Lodge twice this year, focusing on members of Oceanside-San Dieguito present at our lodge meetings. The Grand Master’s theme of “Coming Home” was not just about showing up your lodge but to return to the craft and visit lodge near where you live.

This is a theme that I would like to continue during the coming year. I hope that each of you will attend a lodge somewhere in the world this coming year. We are a fraternity that has members all over the world who would like to get to know you.

I am a relatively new mason and there are many members of our lodge that I have never met, and I would like to get to know each you.

Please “come home” to Oceanside-San Dieguito Lodge, “come home” the fraternity of Freemasonry during 2011.

Fraternally,
Drew Middleton
Senior Warden
