Master’s Message – January 2011
Brethren,
I would like to wish all of our Brothers a Happy New Year, and invite you to attend Lodge sometime in the coming year. I know that many of you live a great distance from our meeting place in Oceanside, so I would request you to attend the lodge nearest to the place where you live.
I would like to welcome our new brothers, John Wise and Blake Lynch who were initiated on December 13th. We also have one more candidate, Jessie Heisler, who will be receiving his First Degree this month.
The Grand Master’s Project is “By Your Side” with the purpose of assisting nurses to be certified in oncology nursing. The Grand Master, Bill Bray, and his wife, Linda, are both cancer survivors and were helped by nurses with oncology training. The presence of a Certified Oncology Nurse can make an incredible difference in the quality of care, communication with patients and family, as well as the management of the fight against cancer. I would also hope that each of you, individually, would support this project to the best of your ability. I am planning events that will show the lodges support for this very worth while project. The first will be an afternoon poker tournament at 3 PM on Saturday, January 22nd at the home of our Sr. Stewart. For a $30.00 entry fee, snacks will be provided, and prizes for the last three chip holders.
I have included in the budget money for the lodge to comp your dinner prior to the stated meeting in the month that you were born. I am doing this as an incentive, in these financially hard times, to get you to come to lodge at least once this coming year. I hope that I will have the opportunity to greet you several times in 2011.
Fraternally,
Drew Middleton
Master

Brethren,
The Installation of Officers has taken place and the new corps of officers are ready, willing and able to perform their duties.
Make one of your New Years resolutions to attend Lodge. We meet on Mondays at 7 p.m. Check the trestleboard calendar for the scheduled activities.
When in Lodge siting next to a brother that you do not know and extend your acquaintance in your Lodge. You will never know many of your own brethren unless you make the attempt. It is better for Masonry to hunt out he men whose humble opinion of his importance causes him to hang back than to rush forward and shake hands with the prominent man who has plenty of friends. If you do not know him, shake his hand and introduce yourself.
I look forward to meeting you in the near future.
I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
Fraternally,
John Brooks, PM
Senior Warden
From the South – January 2011
Brethren,
Congratulations to the new officer corps that was installed on December 11th. The installing team did an outstanding job, and is to be congratulated on a wonderful installation.
The Lodge performed a double First Degree on December 13th, so we are off to a busy start!
It appears that 2011 will again be a busy year for our Lodge– our new officer corps is up to the many tasks ahead.
I again wish to thank the brethren for electing me to serve as the Junior Warden for the ensuing Masonic year. I look forward to performing the duties assigned to that station and assisting the Master and Senior Warden.
Please make every effort to support the Lodge by attending our Stated Meeting Dinners and our Degrees.
Fraternally,
David Lonergan, PM
Junior Warden

Rainbow Girls News – January 2011
The Pacific View Assembly of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday every month.
The age for Rainbow Girls is 11 to 20. Girls do not have to have Masonic affiliation. It is a great organization, which helps girls ready for life and has lots of fun. For more info go to the state web site at www.gorainbow.org or call Sissy Pitts at 760-724-0118.
Service is important to the girls. Pacific View’s favorite community service is to bake cookie and deliver them to the Oceanside fire stations, we usually do this twice a year.
Sunshine Report – January 2011
We have several brothers who are in need of some Masonic sunshine with our prayers, cards and calls.

Eric Sims & Oscar Ruada – Home from Afghanistan – recovering from combat injuries
If you know of a brother needing a little Masonic Sunshine call (760) 722-9363 and let us know.
Master’s Message – December 2010
Brethren,
Another year is quickly coming to a close. I have been honored to serve as your Master and I thank your the allowing me this privilege. This year was very successful for the Lodge, but was, once again, very difficult for me during the middle of the year. I would like to thank everyone in the Lodge for their help during this time, but I would especially like to thank Worshipful Brothers Roy Youngblood, John Brooks and Tom Traver for all of their assistance. Also, I would like to thank the Officer’s for all of their great work throughout the year.
I would like to congratulate Drew Middleton for being elected as the Worshipful Master for 2011—the Lodge is in good hands!
Also, Brethren, I would like to thank your for once again electing me to serve as Junior Warden for 2011.
The Installation of Officers will take place on Dec. 11, 2010. All of the Officers look forward to seeing you there!
Please attend the Stated Meeting in December.
Fraternally,
Dave Lonergan
Worshipful Master
From the West – December 2010
Brethren,
I thank you for your vote of confidence by electing me to serve our lodge as the Master for 2011.
One of the tasks that our Inspector has given us is to create a strategic plan for the lodge. A strategic plan consists of a mission statement with goals, objectives and activities. This is not a task that can be accomplished by just a few brothers; it will take in put from the members – the more the better.
A mission statement: is a clear description of the reason the organization exists. Your suggestions will help establish the reasons the lodge exists and guidelines for our lodge to follow for years to come.
Specific goals help break down the mission into individual elements, and we can then pursue the goals as objectives, which are closely related and similar to goals but are more concrete, well defined and measurable.
We will then go a step further and plan activities and programs based on the goals and objectives, which hopefully will help us, communicate with our members to get them re-involved in the lodge, and inform the public about exactly what we do.
Your participation in this project can greatly help in getting our members involved in the lodge and maybe attract new members.
I will be scheduling a meeting to discuss in put on all of the parts of the strategic plan. If you have any ideas you would like to have considered, please let me know what they are.
Fraternally,
Drew Middleton
Senior Warden
